Safari day by day
Day 1: Pick up, Kigali city tour & transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National park
On this first day of our trip, your professional driver guide representing our company will pick you up from either your hotel in Kigali or Kigali International airport. Have a simple briefing on how the trip will run and go for a city tour in Kigali to explore the cleanness, organization and beauty of this small city.
You will tour different travel sites within the city Centre such as Kigali genocide memorial Centre, Kigali convention Centre, presidential palace, Kimironko market, Inema art gallery and different shopping malls. After lunch in the city, drive to Cyanika, Uganda’s border and Rwanda.
Clear with the immigrations and thereafter drive via Kisoro town to Mgahinga Gorilla National park. A drive through Kisoro town, local communities and farms is a great pre trekking experience!
Day 2: Mountain gorilla trekking & Departure
Today you wake up early, refresh, have a hot cup of coffee, get your packed lunch and drive to Ntebeko visitor information Centre for registration and pre gorilla trekking briefing about the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. In your group of eight, you will be allocated 2 park armed rangers who will guide you through the jungle in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. The hike to meet the famous Nyakagezi gorilla family starts at 8:00 am lasting for between 30 minutes to over 8 hours. However, you are 99% sure of meeting the endangered gorillas at the end of the trip.
You will spend an hour with Nyakagyezi family, learn and embrace their human like behaviors, take pictures, capture love videos and enjoy this magical encounter. Interestingly, the hike in search of the gorillas give you chance to see other attractions in Mgahinga Gorilla National park. Besides the gorillas, Mgahinga Park is also home to golden monkeys, African buffalos, bush pigs, Giant forest hogs, golden cats, striped jackals among others.
Also, expect to see numerous bird species which include African paradise flycatcher, Black kite, Pin tilled whydah, sun birds and Ibises among others. From there, you will trek back, met your driver guide and drive back to Kigali.
