Behold, this 3 days gorilla trekking tours is a real deal. Hike through the stunning forests of Bwindi in search of the gentle giants, and get a chance to view other primates, birds and mammals as well.
Visit a well habituated gorilla family and witness these humble apes as they go about their routine, nursing each other and interacting freely within their natural habitat in south western Uganda.
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Be done with breakfast 7:00am, and your driver will be ready to pick you up and drive southwards from Kampala or Entebbe. The journey to Bwindi national park takes about 8 hours passing through impressive landscapes, countryside, plantations and some other iconic landmarks like the equator.
Stop over for photography moment at the equator, see the geographical experiment and if you can buy a souvenir and pick a cup of cappuccino. Proceed on a journey to Mbarara via Igongo cultural where you will stop for lunch and a simple museum tour.
From here, drive to Kanungu, home of Buhoma sector – the northern region of Bwindi impenetrable national park. Pass through Rukungiri district marked with cultivated farms, hillsides, bustling highway towns and trading centers. Arrive at your lodge in Buhoma in the evening, settle in, have a glass of juice, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa culture encounter
Arrive at the briefing center in the morning before 7:15am, ready to meet your fellow trekkers and undergo a 30-minute briefing session where the ranger guides will read out important terms and conditions to be observed during the trekking experience.
Begin the trek by 8:30am, joined by park rangers, trackers and porters (in case you need one for hire); this lasts for up to 8 hours depending on the movements of gorillas and where they spent the night previous day.
After finding your allocated group, spend an hour in their midst as you enjoy their company, take pictures and ask lots of questions to the rangers regarding these endangered primates.
Return to the starting point after the trek, have your packed lunch and decide whether to go for Batwa community walk or just relax at the lodge the entire evening.
Day 3: Travel back to Kampala
This is the last day of your 3 days gorilla trekking tour in Bwindi; prepare to depart as early as possible. Have breakfast by 8:00am and begin the journey thereafter.
Pass through Mbarara city where you will stop for lunch, and then at the equator for souvenir shopping and a cup of coffee, before departing finally to Entebbe for departure or at a hotel in Kampala for overnight stay.
