The 4 days gorillas & Lake Bunyonyi takes you through gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi. Both Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi are found in Southwestern Uganda, about 7-8 hours’ drive from Kampala.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park protects mountain gorillas in its dense rain-forest, chimpanzees, diversity of birds, several other mammals, reptiles among others. It was created in 1991 purposely to inhabit mountain gorillas but today this 331sq.kms boasts of more than great apes.
Lake Bunyonyi is known for its 29 islands with famous ones being the Bushara and Punishment Islands. Your trip to Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi begins and ends in Kampala/Entebbe.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Drive to Bwindi in Kabale
Have a hefty breakfast and after, meet your tour leader who will warmly welcome you. After, he will brief you on this Uganda tour and then you drive from Kampala through Masaka to Kabale with a stopover to be made at Equator.
Lunch stop at Igongo Cultural Centre for a traditional meal. Continue to Bwindi while enjoying the rolling hills of Kigezi region and upon early arrival, check into your lodge.
Day 2: Go trek mountain gorillas in Bwindi
After your cup of tea or coffee, get to Bwindi park offices with some snacks plus bottled mineral water. You will be briefed on guidelines for gorilla trekking and at 8:00am after you have been allocated to a gorilla family and park guide, undertake a trek to see gorillas.
Expect to take 2-6 hours which includes a maximum of one hour that you will have face to face with gorillas. Retreat from your gorilla adventure with park guide onlead. Relax a little at the lodge and have evening visit to Batwa community.
Day 3: Travel to Lake Bunyonyi
Enjoy a hefty breakfast and after, begin your trip from Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi, one of the deepest lakes in Africa. This is an amazing birding spot and a home to 29 islands. Take a canoe ride to any of the islands, enjoy bird sights as you also view the surrounding communities.
Retreat from exciting boat ride and have lunch break at the lodge. In the evening, take a walk through the nearby local communities to interact with local residents then get back for dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 4: Drive back to Entebbe or Kampala
Rise up for enjoyable breakfast and after, check out of the lodge. Meet your guide and transfer from Southwestern Uganda to Kampala/Entebbe. Lunch enroute and memorable stop at Equator for photo taking. You will be dropped off in Kampala or Entebbe which marks the end of your 4 days gorillas & Lake Bunyonyi tour.
